RYO/MYO Accessory: Shargio Flip Top Hard Case

Ok, so this isn’t a cigar post. But I blend my own tobaccos and make my own cigarettes to avoid the ever increasing cost of cigarettes due to “sin taxes.”

And the single biggest issue with them is they don’t come in boxes and they’re slightly larger diameter than standard cigarettes so 18 will fit uncomfortably in a king size box.

Enter the Shargio.
Material: Injection molded plastic
Color: Assorted colors available
Capacity: 1 pack king size cigarettes in box or 20 RYO/MYO cigarettes

The Shargio pack was found accidentally while shopping for another type of hard case that only holds 18 in 3 divided sections and has thin hinges that can wear out with repeated openings. None of that on the Shargio pack.

The most notable feature is its push to open system, where flexing the pack inwards in the front center releases the spring loaded lid on a piano hinge. Yes, that’s right. It has a full length piano hinge. The spring wire forms the hinge pin, and a positive latch holds it closed until sufficient pressure is applied to release it.

The pack holds 20 cigarettes easily in a 7-6-7 or a 7-7-6 configuration (the latter is harder to do but works) and is thick enough to be durable without being so thick it’s bulky.

The only complaint I have is that when fully loaded the lid will sometimes catch on the corner cigarettes in front unless you load in the 7-7-6 configuration from back to front and it is only an issue when loading. Once you have removed a single cigarette the problem disappears.

The Shargio case is economical too. I bought from a retailer with a volume price break and with shipping paid $2.70 each ($1.90 ea before shipping) on 10 of them, enough to store and rotate a carton for travel.

It’s not the best way to carry RYO/MYO cigarettes, as a nice quality cigarette case beats a plastic case, but for the money these are hard to beat. Good quality, easy to open, and economical. If you’re looking for a stylish and inexpensive way to store your handmade smokes, give these a look.
